CARY, NORTH CAROLINA, UNITED STATES, January 11, 2023 /EINPresswire.com/ — When it comes to STEM education and being immersed in the fields of science and technology, there is nothing with quite the same effect as competing with like-minded individuals to test not only knowledge but collaborative ability, as well as critical and adaptive thinking. Competitions are a space where students can hone their skills sharply and be sure that the techniques, adaptations, and understanding they gain will be memorable due to the fast-paced and exciting environment they were garnered.

Competitions also allow students to showcase and elevate their dedication to STEM learning. It takes many weeks of preparation to refine and perfect their robots and runs – placing students in the ideal environment to put their resolve and love of the technology as a top priority and grow as STEM students and ultimately, STEM professionals.

Zebra Robotics boasts an extensive competition history and is proud to have had more than 100 teams compete in renowned STEM competitions such as the First Lego League, Zone01, World Robot Olympiad, Canadian Computing Competition, Vex Robotics, and our in-house competition CRoC (Coding and Robotics Open Challenge). Teams from Zebra Robotics have won over 85 regional, provincial, and national awards in the last eight years. Zebra has also been part of Team Canada in the World Robot Olympiad Internationals in 2016, 2018, and 2022. The established coding and robotics institute not only aims to sponsor students to achieve success at these high-level competitions, but also supports teams with hands-on coaching and mentorship as well as spaces to build and test their robots, regulation mats to time their runs, and more in their impressive student-centric centers.

Zebra Robotics’ learning approach is self-paced, enabling students to learn at their own pace. Self-paced learning at Zebra also means hands-on learning so students do all the design and programming of their robots themselves. However, they can tap into a deep and robust support system of coaches that aid them on their journey to success. This guidance and support system helps alleviate the steep learning curve and shock of first-time competitors as well as support long-time competitors that face higher degrees of pressure as they progress.

Zebra had a busy competition season in 2022. Teams representing Zebra in Canada and the US have been making a splash with award wins and advancements everywhere they go! Here are some competition highlights from last year. Two teams formed by Zebra Mississauga center advanced to First Lego League Provincials. A third team will be advancing to the Ontario East Provincials. Two teams from Zebra Robotics Cary in North Carolina will be advancing to the State Championship.

Competitions are an exciting motivator for students, but Zebra coaches always emphasize the non-technical aspects of competitions that are most important to learn. Skills like fostering good sportsmanship, respect, teamwork, and responsibility are practiced just as much as any technical skills. These are vital life skills that can be learned by participating in competitions, and it is our hope these students will bring these skills with them beyond Zebra and into the professional world.

The vision for Zebra Robotics has always been to instill a love of STEM in all students who are interested and to guide them into becoming the most versatile and adaptive professionals they can be.
