BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A number coding scheme may be implemented in this city during weekends to address monstrous traffic jams.
Januario Burillo, Transportation and Traffic Management head of the city engineering office, said the city council would be asked to pass either an ordinance or a resolution to implement a weekend coding scheme.
He said the traffic management working group would convene on Jan. 12 to discuss the proposal.
The number coding scheme is currently implemented in the city on weekdays.
Traffic congestion has become a problem in Baguio, especially during Thursday nights, Friday and Saturday, when visitors or tourists arrive, usually in private vehicles.
