The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Friday the suspension of the implementation of the number coding or the expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program on December 26, 30 and January 2, 2023.
December 26 and January 2, 2023, which both fall on a Monday, were officially declared as special non-working days by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
December 30 (Rizal Day), which falls on a Friday, is a regular holiday.
MMDA earlier said that the number coding is automatically lifted in Metro Manila during regular holidays.
“Planuhin ang inyong biyahe, sumunod sa batas trapiko, at mag-ingat sa pagmamaneho,” it said.
Meanwhile, provincial buses will be allowed to traverse EDSA from December 24 to January 2, 2023.
Provincial buses from North Luzon shall terminate their trips at the bus terminals in Cubao, Quezon City. While provincial buses coming from South Luzon shall end their trips at the bus terminals in Pasay City.
“This is to allow the provincial buses to accommodate the expected influx of passengers going to the provinces for the holiday season and ensure the convenience and comfort of the commuters,” MMDA said.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
