Learners from Beaumont and De Hoop primary schools battling it out during the first ever coding and robotics interschools challenge.
The first Fun Coding and Robotics Interschools challenge, between Beaumont and De Hoop primary schools, was held at Beaumont Primary on Friday 6 December.
Learners of the two schools gathered from 09:00 to 12:00 to compete in a coding and robotics team challenge.
The entire programme was sponsored by Complete Office Solutions in Somerset West and other co-sponsors. The event included items such as an obstacle course, which the teams’ robots had to navigate over three laps, a robot soccer game and some tricky coding to see which team’s robot can navigate a pre-set course independently and without intervention.
A total of 18 learners from each school participated, with six teams from each school made up by three learners per team.
The day was a success and the bar was set very high for next year’s event. The schools will take turns hosting the event, which means the next interschools gathering will be held at De Hoop Primary at the end of next year.
